India; of uncertain origin; cf. Skr. vara[.n][dsdot]a, Pg.
varanda, Sp. baranda, Malay baranda.] (Arch.)
An open, roofed gallery or portico, adjoining a dwelling
house, forming an out-of-door sitting room. See Loggia.
